Soil
The best way to plant Lisianthus is in disinfected / fumigated soil. The pH of the soil has to be around 6.5. We advice to take a soil analysis.
Water / fertiliser
The plants need regular and an even distribution of water and fertiliser. At the start a moist soil is the best, but try to keep the humidity as low as possible especially during harvesting. Do not give to much water at once but small quantities each time. When the plants are still in the tray, keep the plug wet. Before bud information you give them more nitrogen than potassium and during bud information more potassium than nitrogen. When you have enough length you can give less water to force the plant to flower. Also during flowering you give less water to keep a good rootsysteem.
Temperature
At the start day and night 20 C. Later you keep the temperature 20 C during the day and at night 17 C. Lower temperature should be avoided because the chance of diseases. When the humidity is high, you have to heat the greenhouse and make sure that you have good ventilation. The time of cultivation is 3-5 months depending on the season of the year. The planting period is from December to July without light. You can plant year round with assimilation lighting.
Harvest
You have to cut the Lisianthus when there at least two or three flowers open and a few buds coloured. After cutting you have to put the Lisianthus immediately on clean water and in a cold store or a cool dry place. The air in the cold store has to be dry and clean.
